Seigle Avenue Preschool Cooperative is more than just a preschool. In one wing of a one-story, red brick building at the corner of Seigle Avenue and 10th Street, we change over 100 lives every year. And we have been doing it for almost 20 years. Annually, we enroll 40 children and their families in our preschool program. We also have a parent education program, a family support program and we follow up with our graduates as they progress through elementary school.
Located in the heart of one of Charlotte’s most fragile neighborhoods, the Preschool Cooperative provides the most basic education that every small child needs: preparation for success in elementary school and beyond. At the same time, the Preschool Cooperative, its staff and volunteers foster healthy parenting within the neighboring families and community. We support and strengthen the fabric of the community and serve as a model for future efforts to improve the lives of those who need so much.
Our philosophy is to strengthen our community as a whole by supporting and strengthening its most precious resources – its children. Our mission is to create partnerships among parents, children, staff, volunteers, financial benefactors and our community to address the educational and social needs of small children and their parents in the Belmont neighborhood of inner-city Charlotte. By doing this well, we build stronger families, a stronger neighborhood, a stronger community and a stronger city. |
