Celebrating the Season!
Holiday 2008

This past November and December, we were reminded again of the incredible generosity of our good friends, new and old. To kick off the holiday season, our local Food Lion donated frozen turkeys for all of the Seigle Avenue Preschool families’ Thanksgiving dinners.

We made new friends with Red Lobster directors and staff who visited us in December. The Red Lobster volunteers spent the morning in each of our classrooms, reading books to the children, coloring pictures, decorating cookies, and then everyone enjoyed a pizza party lunch! We are grateful to our Red Lobster friends for providing all of the activity supplies, and mostly for spending time with the children.

Our very special, good friends at Crowder Construction Company, www.crowdercc.com, had an Angel Tree for the children of the Preschool. The children were so surprised to see Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and a handful of elves. Mrs. Claus read holiday stories to the children, but they really just wanted to open the gifts! Each child received warm winter clothing and a toy. It was a wonderful, crazy, messy afternoon, but the smiles on the children’s faces were priceless. Crowder Construction also made a very generous gift of three new laptop computers – one for each classroom – for our teachers to use. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Special thanks to Anami Montessori School, www.anamimontessori.org. We appreciate the year-round friendship, as well as the holiday visit. Anami students sang holiday songs and brought gifts for the children.

Charlotte Pure Fashion, www.purefashion.com/cities/charlotte, joined us for holiday fun, too. They brought gifts, made a take-home craft with the children and then had a pizza party.

Shortly before Christmas, the Preschool was invited to participate in the Charlotte Bobcats and Feed the Children grocery give-away for families in the Seigle Avenue community. The other non-profit organizations involved were: Seigle Avenue Presbyterian Church, Jacob’s Ladder Job Center, Seigle Avenue Partners Out of School Time, and Charlotte Housing Authority for residents of Seigle Point and McAden Park apartments. A big thank you to Charlotte Bobcat Raymond Felton for handing out the give-aways and making this all possible!

Thank you to all of our friends who made Christmas 2008 a warm and wonderful time!
